FM200801 Definitives

  • Due to the high inflation of the Musogradian Dinar at the time, it was necessary to issue high value stamps not only for Air Mail service, but also for standard mail. This issue, consisting of 4 stamps printed as se-tenant sheet of 15 stamps of each type, was the last definitive issue to be denominated in M$ (Musogradian Dinar). At time of issue, an inland letter was covered by 10 M$, but in summer 2008, this had risen to 100 M$.

Commemorative Issue "Southern Cross Expedition 2008"

FM200802 Southern Cross Expedition

  • Following the March 2008 peace between Musograd and Capricornia, a joint expedition to Australia was planned for Summer 2008. Posta tal Musograd and Capricornia Post agreed on a joined stamp issue celebrating this expedition. The two stamps were printed in a small sheet format, consisting of 3 stamps each.

Definitive Issue "Central Australian Landscapes"

FM200803 Central Australian Landscapes

  • A series of 4 definitives was issued in June marked with "A" (FM letters) and "B" (standard international letters), to avoid adjustment problems related to the high inflation and to prepare for the expected currency reform. Two stamps were marked as "Air Mail", but were used also for standard mail. Also, a Service stamp (for the military and various agencies) and a Registered stamp, both category "B", were issued. Central Australian motives were selected for this issue. Air Mail "A" shows the Devil's Marbles, NT, Air Mail "B" a view at Wilpena Pound, S.A., Service "B" Kata Tjuta, NT, and Registered "B" Kings Canyon, NT.

Commemorative Issue "Central Australian Landscapes - FEMA - JSCE"

  • Based on the June definitives series, a commemorative series was issued one week later with the inscription "FEMA - JSCE 2008", mostly for use during the Joint Southern Cross Expedition of the "Forzai Expedizionar Musogradij in Australija" and Capricornian Defense Force units.

FM200805 Common Wallaroo Miniature Sheet

  • Due to the fast rapproach between Musograd and Capricornia in spring 2008, plans for an economic and currency union between the states were prepared in summer 2008. The new currency was technically based on the Capricornian Florin (at a rate of 10 to 1) and, for the external exchange rate, on the Euro (at a rate of 1 to 1). It was introduced on 2008.01.01 and named the "Common Wallaroo", in reference to the fact that a small kangaroo, the Common Wallaroo (Macropus robustus) is also called Euro in its western variant. Three stamps were issued in standard non-mixed sheets, with 15 stamps per sheet each, plus a miniature sheet with all 3 stamps as se-tenant row. The paper used for the miniature sheets was of a special type from a test delivery, which was only used for this issue.

  • The JSCE expedition retrieved a number of samples of layered sandstones from the Kununurra region in Western Australia. Those beautiful stones are depicted in this issue, a miniature sheet with 8 stamps (image at 20% size).

  • This issue celebrated the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States. As a candidate, Obama visited Balangrad City on 2008.07.24, on which occasion the photo was taken. Hope was growing that both the U.S. and the world now were on the right track.

Definitive Issue "Australian Landscapes"

FM200811 Australian Landscapes

  • With this issue, a new long-term series of Definitives was started which still is in use today (2016). At first it was planned to cover only areas in WA and NT touched by the JSCE expedition, but later on, also other areas of Australia were covered. The CW 0.10 value shows Skipjack Point at the coast of Francois Peron NP, the CW 0.25 value a view in Keep River NP, and the CW 1.00 value the spectacular Nourlangie Rock in Kakadu NP in the Northern Territory, which has also inspired the composition "Nourlangie" by renowned Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe. The issue was printed in single-value sheets, but also in a se-tenant 3 stamp version.
  • Printing Runs: These stamps had the issuer text (under the stamp, right) "yourstamps". Later printing runs of the 1.00 value had different issuer texts, "Posta tal Musograd 2008" and "PTM 2008", the latter combined with the wrong place information "Geikie Gorge NP".
